We will fly to Minneapolis today,
where we will board our coach for our tour north to
Wadena,
Minnesota.
Day 2
- Continental Breakfast
- Lake Itasca
- Tour to Lake Itasca, Bemidji &
Minneapolis
We'll sightsee nearby Lake
Itasca, this morning, where you can step over stones marking the
headwaters of the mighty Mississippi River, which travel 2340 miles
through the heartland of our country enroute the Gulf of
Mexico. We'll truly be in the North Woods as we see the
statues of Paul Bunyan and Babe, his Blue Ox. We will sightsee more
of Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes, as we return to
Minneapolis.
Day 3
Today, we'll tour the Twin
Cities as we visit Minnehaha Park along the Mississippi, and
the falls made famous by Longfellow's "Song of Hiawatha." We'll see
the Statue of Hiawatha and Minnehaha in the stream. We'll also see
the 5 7 story IDS Building, Nicolett Mall, St. Anthony Falls, the
University of Minnesota, the Minnesota Capitol, the mansions on
Summit Avenue, the Guthrie Theater, and historic Fort Snelling, to
name a few of the highlights.
Later, there'll be time to
visit the magnificent Mall of America with over 400 stores,
restaurants, and attractions.
Day 4
We'll start our trip down
the Great River Road today, as we view the states of Wisconsin and
Minnesota. Enroute, we'll visit Wabesha, from the scene of the movie
"Grumpy Old Men."
Later, we'll pass through
La Crosse and Dickeyville, where we'll visit the Grotto to Christ
the King and Mary His Mother.
Tonight, we'll be in
Dubuque. How about some River Boat gambling?
Day 5
Today will be a fun day as
we visit the Field of Dreams cornfield where the movie was made, the
Mississippi River Museum in Dubuque, and President U.S. Grant's home
in nearby historic Galena.
Day 6
We'll follow the Great
River Road again today. Highlights will include Nauvoo, Illinois,
famous for its Mormon history, and Hannibal, Missouri, where the
streets come alive with
Mark Twain characters.
Day 7
We'll catch another glimpse
of Hannibal today, before we continue south along the Great River
Road to the Gateway City, St. Louis. During our tour of St. Louis,
we'll ride up into the famous Arch, and sightsee the elegantly
restored Union Station, as well as the magnificent New Cathedral,
Busch Stadium, and the Court House, where the Dred Scott decision
was handed down. Plus much, much more.
Day 8
We will return home today
with many found memories of our journey through the Heart of the
United States, along its most famous and important waterway, the
Mighty Mississippi!
