DAY
1
We will leave winter behind
as we fly to Southern California. Southern California averages
328 days of sunshine a year. San Diego is twenty miles from
the Mexican border and is the birthplace of
California.
DAY
2
This morning our visit to the
San Diego Zoo includes a tram pass through the park. Its 100
acres is also home to over 4,000 animals and 800
species. Not to be missed are the Polar Bear Plunge,
Tiger River, and the lush botanical gardens.
This afternoon, we will tour
San Diego, America's Finest City. We will pass through
Point Loma, the Coronado Bridge & Coronado Island, Balboa Park,
Sea Port Village, Mission Bay, La Jolla, and so much
more.
DAY
3
All aboard, the Amtrak
Coaster Train for a rail that hugs the Pacific Ocean as we head
north to San Juan Capistrano, where we will visit the mission that
was made famous by the famed returning swallows. Lunch will be
on your own in Old San Juan. If the time allows, we will visit
sites in Orange County before we tour the Crystal Cathedral. Dinner
is included before we attend the "Glory of Christmas" performance at
the Crystal Cathedral. The Cathedral was built in 1977 and now
has a 10,000 member congregation. The structure has 10,000
windows and a 290 foot door behind the pulpit.
DAY
4
This morning, we will view
the frantic workers putting the final touches on tomorrow's
floats. After our float viewing, we'll tour the City of
Angels. You'll view Chinatown, Union Station, Wilshire
Boulevard, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, the Kodak Theater and the Walk
of Stars.

5
Happy New
Year!
Rise and Shine,
sleepyheads. Our bleacher seating for the 12t0h Rose Parade is
waiting for us. Prepare to be enchanted with floats, totally
covered by live flowers and vegetation, bands and equestrian
participants as we join thousands along the parade
route.
Later, we will take in
the spectacular Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, with its 17
major habitats and 30 smaller exhibits depicting the Southern
California/Baja, Tropical Pacific, and Northern Pacific Zones.
We will even catch a view of the legendary Queen Mary and the Long
Beach coastline as we complete our day.
DAY
6
Today, we will tour
past the Santa Monica Pier and beautiful Malibu enroute to the
Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, which is perched on a
mountain-top over Simi Valley. You will be able to see
everything from the President's high school yearbook, to a
deactivated missile, to Air Force One!
Later, we will visit the
fabulous J. Paul Getty Center, a 110 acre complex highlighted by the
museum with its collections of pre-20th century paintings, drawings,
illuminated manuscripts, sculpture, decorative arts, and European
and America photographs.

fond memories of our New Year's in California
