Day 1
Today, we will fly to
Washington, D.C., where we'll transfer to our
hotel.
Day
2
We will start out tour
this morning driving along the Potomac River to Mt. Vernon, George
Washington's beloved home and estate. You'll marvel at the beautiful
gardens and the view of the river from the porch of his house.
Later, we'll sightsee the quaint seaport town of Alexandria,
Virginia.
Other highlights of
our tour will be the Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Veterans
Memorial, the Marine Memorial (Iwo Jima) and a tram tour of the
Arlington National Cemetery, where we will see the Changing of the
Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider and the Kennedy Gravesites.
We will also see the Pentagon, the US Capitol, the Library of
Congress, the Supreme Court, the House and Senate Office Buildings,
the FBI Building, the White House, the Federal Triangle, Embassy
Row, Georgetown, the US Navy Memorial, and the Corcoran Gallery of
Art.
Day
3
Today, we will visit
some of the famous buildings that we saw on yesterday's tour. We
will tour Ford's Theater, the Lincoln Museum and the Peterson House,
the Jefferson Memorial, the World War II Monument, the FDR Memorial,
and the National Archives. As we are touring Washington, we'll also
view the Ellipse, the National Tidal Basin, the Washington Monument,
the US Botanical Gardens, the National Gallery of Art, the Natural
History Museum, the Hirshhorn Museum, the Castle, the National Law
Enforcement Officer's Memorial, and the Grant Memorial. There will
be time this afternoon to visit the museums of your choice along the
Mall.
Day
4
We will tour two
centuries of America History today. We'll begin with a visit to
Manassas (Bull Run) Battlefield Park, site of two of the most
significant battles of the Civil War. We will, next, travel to to
Charlottesville, Virginia for a visit to the University of Virginia,
on of Thomas Jefferson's architectural design masterpieces. Later,
we will travel to Monticello, home of Thomas Jefferson, President,
inventor, surveyor, musician, and artist. Monticello is one of
America's most beautiful historic homes.
Day 5
Today, we will travel
through some very picturesque, rolling countryside to Gettysburg,
Pennsylvania, a town steeped in history. We will tour the town and
the historic battlefield, where in July of 1863, the Union Army,
under General George C. Meade, Defeated the Confederate forces under
General Robert E. Lee. We'll also view Cemetery Ridge, where Abraham
Lincoln delivered his famous Gettysburg Address, and the farm of
President Eisenhower. We'll even have time for a stop at the
world-famous Boyd's Teddy Bear Store.

We will depart
Washington, this morning, for Williamsburg. Before we get there,
though, we will experience some very interesting sightseeing as we
first stop in Richmond and view the State Capitol Building and visit
St. John's Church, where Patrick Henry gave his impassioned "Give me
liberty of give me death" speech. Another highlight will be viewing
on of Edgar Allen Poe' s homes. We will also tour Jamestown, the
first permanent English settlement in America, where we'll see
Festival Park, with it's reconstructed Indian Lodge, replicas of the
three ships that brought the settlers across the Atlantic and a
reproduction of the original triangular log fort. We'll even visit
decisive Yorktown before we settle in at our
hotel.
Day
7
Today you will enjoy
an intimate glimpse of 18th Century life. Your sightseeing tour of
Colonial Williamsburg allows you to step back in history for one
full day and recapture the spirit and the character of such great
men as Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry. Your will view some of
the finest examples of Georgian Architecture, 18th Century
furnishings and gardens landscaped with plants only known to
colonial horticulturists. You will stop at the information center to
view the Film "The Patriot" and can take time for a relaxing lunch.
Then you will proceed on to the restored area to visit the Capitol.
You will see the Bruton Parish Church, the Courthouse, Powder
Magazine, the Bruch-Evard House and the College of William and Mary.
The sights and sounds of the 18th Century Virginia will be recreated
by the wigmaker fashioning perukes, the copper creating kegs and
kilderkins, and the militia firing flint muskets and marching to the
music of fife and drum.
